Who's Covered
TRICARE in Massachusetts covers more people than you'd think.
TRICARE East runs through Humana Military and covers a wide range of military-connected people in Massachusetts. If any of the following applies, your therapy is in.
Active Duty & Families
Service members on active orders and their enrolled dependents. We verify your cost share before you book.
Retirees
Retired service members and their dependents under TRICARE Select. Cost shares apply, and we tell you yours before you book.
Reserve & National Guard
Reserve Select members and qualifying National Guard families. Coverage looks similar to TRICARE Select.
What It Costs
TRICARE covers therapy. Cost depends on your plan and ours.
Cost varies by your TRICARE category (Prime, Select, Reserve Select) and by your provider's network status. We verify your specific plan and write you the actual numbers before you book, so there are no surprises.
- Your TRICARE category and plan
- Copay, cost share, or point-of-service cost per session
- Whether you need a referral (most don't for outpatient mental health)
- Any annual deductible status
Why Ala
Military families know when a therapist doesn't get it.
The corporate therapy platforms don't usually employ clinicians who understand deployment cycles, PCS moves, dependent IDs, or the particular weight of being a military family. We're not pretending to be a TRICARE specialty practice, but we are small, virtual, and committed: one clinician, the same person every session, no rotating cast. If you book with us, you book with Kenzie. That's the whole thing.
Same therapist, every week
You see the same person from session one onward. No rotating cast, no transferring notes between clinicians, no starting over.
Real human verification
A human reads your insurance card, runs benefits, and writes you the actual cost. Not a chatbot estimate that turns out to be off by a hundred dollars.
Specialty fit, not generic match
Kenzie works specifically with religious trauma, EMDR, teens and young adults, and LGBTQIA+ affirming care. She is not generic-affirming, she is affirming-on-purpose.
Built around how therapy actually starts
We tell you what each session will cost, what the first session looks like, and what to expect after, before you sign anything.
Common Questions
TRICARE therapy in Massachusetts, asked and answered.
Is Kenzie in-network with TRICARE East in MA?
Yes. Kenzie is credentialed with Humana Military / TRICARE East under her LICSW license. Send a photo of your card and we'll get going.
Do I need a referral for therapy?
For outpatient mental health, almost never. TRICARE removed the referral requirement for outpatient mental health back in 2017. We confirm your specific plan when we run benefits.
Does TRICARE cover EMDR?
Yes. EMDR is billed under standard outpatient psychotherapy codes and is covered as part of your mental health benefit.
I'm on TRICARE Prime. Is therapy free with you?
Not exactly. TRICARE Prime is fully covered with no cost when you see a TRICARE Network Provider, meaning a provider formally contracted into Humana Military's network. We're a TRICARE-authorized provider, which means we can bill TRICARE and your sessions are covered, but Prime members seeing us are using point-of-service benefits. That covers a share of the cost and leaves you with a deductible and cost share. We verify exactly what your plan will run before you book.
I'm a dependent, not the service member. Can I still book?
Yes, as long as you're enrolled in TRICARE under the sponsor. Send your card and your relationship to the sponsor (spouse, dependent child, etc.) and we'll verify your enrollment.
Do you take MassHealth as a secondary?
No. We don't accept MassHealth or any state Medicaid product, even as a secondary to TRICARE.
